NovelEsolutions is currently seeking a Project Level Environmental Professional to support their team. This person will support various project types, including Phase I/II ESAs, environmental assessment, environmental remediation, and environmental compliance work, field sampling, oversight of drilling, construction and remediation operations and report writing. Projects will support a variety of clients, including FDEP, USACE, USAF, USSF, SFWMD, and Private Developers.

General Description
A project level geologist/environmental scientist who manages, plans, coordinates, and directs consulting activities and matters at a project level. Prepares / approves project budgets, schedules, and financial obligations of projects. Approves vendor and subcontractor invoices for payment and the use of company equipment and personnel for project objectives. Performs a limited amount (less than 20% of monthly time) of upper level professional and/ or upper level professional job responsibilities. Coordination with external clients and development of project budgets and proposals. Provide support to senior level engineering staff. Formulate geological products and plans and provide preliminary quality assurance / quality control reviews.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain client relations with ongoing, targeted communication.
  • Supervise direct reporting office and field staff as allocated by upper management.
  • Supervise office and field staff working on designated projects.
  • Ability to work in the field with to conduct oversight of drilling operations, remediation construction, and tank removals and installations.
  • Ability to collect environmental samples including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and air. This includes coordinating the sample kit delivery and chain-of-custody through submittal to the laboratory.
  • Documentation of field activities in a field book as required by federal, state or local regulations. Field documentation shall be submitted in a timely manner (within one week).
  • Daily interaction and communications with internal employees, engineers, water operators, city/business managers, regulatory agencies, teaming partners, and leaders.
  • Implementation and general support for O&M activities on environmental remediation technologies and treatment systems such as soil vapor extraction systems, multiphase extraction, groundwater extraction/injection, LNAPL recovery, air sparging, carbon adsorption, air stripping, and oxidation.
  • Prepare Work Plans, Operation and Maintenance Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Feasibility Studies, Feasibility and Exposure Assessment Study Evaluations, and Remedial Action Plans in coordination with staff PGs and PEs.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications and compliance reports supporting remediation system operations (e.g., air permitting, sewer discharge permitting, etc.)
  • Cost estimating, proposal development, and tracking operations and budgets.
  • Timely client invoicing focused on maintaining business cash flow. Invoices should be submitted to accounting within 72 hours of project completion.
  • Review of subcontractor invoices and entry into accounting system.
  • Develop New Business and Maintain client relations with ongoing, targeted communication.
  • Supervise direct reporting office and field staff, as allocated by upper management.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or similar degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the environmental field.
  • Basic design or construction experience in environmental site assessment and remediation.
  • Must have willingness to, and experience with, performing field work. Must have ability to work in the field in various types of weather, and the ability to lift heavy equipment as well as stand, bend, twist and walk for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Knowledge of FDEP, EPA and multiple state Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including maintaining ongoing tracking of new SOPs, environmental rules, regulations, and guidance in the states work is being performed.  
  • Problem solving skills enabling efficient and knowledgeable staff and client interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and marketing abilities.
  • Knowledge of federal USACE Project Management and Quality Control procedures including development of Work Plans, QAPPs is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of hydrology, fate and transport, and/or groundwater remediation principles.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to pass a background check for base access.
  • Requires 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-Hour Refresher
 
Work Environment
  • Office work and fieldwork approximately 50/50 split.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to travel.
  • Office space is available with the option to work remotely.
  • Travel- Hotel and food expenses covered when traveling. Work may be out of State but is primarily in Central and South Florida.

Projects will support a variety of clients, including FDEP, USACE, USAF, USSF, SFWMD, and Private Developers.

​General Description
One who performs a variety of geological related activities and environmental sampling associated with their area of expertise, and whose responsibilities are usually assigned by a project or staff level professional. Conduct, review and/or oversee the collection, recording, and/or tabulating of field data for use by professional level personnel.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in the field with to conduct oversight of drilling operations, remediation construction, and tank removals and installations.
  • Ability to collect environmental samples including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and air in accordance with FDEP SOPs and/or EPA/Base SOPs. This includes coordinating the sample kit delivery and chain-of-custody through submittal to the laboratory.
  • Documentation of field activities with site photographs.
  • Documentation of field activities in a field book as required by federal, state or local regulations. Field documentation shall be submitted in a timely manner (within one week).
  • Daily interaction and communications with project level staff and subcontractors.
  • Implementation and general support for O&M activities on environmental remediation technologies and treatment systems such as soil vapor extraction systems, multiphase extraction, groundwater extraction/injection, LNAPL recovery, air sparging, carbon adsorption, air stripping, and oxidation.
  • Must be able to complete detailed field notes, complete FDEP forms including Boring Logs, Well Construction and Development Logs, and FDEP Groundwater Sampling Logs pursuant to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
 
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the environmental field.
  • Must have willingness to, and experience with, performing field work. Must have ability to work in the field in various types of weather, and the ability to lift heavy equipment as well as stand, bend, twist and walk for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Problem solving skills enabling efficient and knowledgeable staff and client interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • General familiarity with Microsoft Office.
