Professional Experience Ms. Tate has over 3 years of field and project management experience completing water resource, environmental, and geotechnical consulting activities for numerous properties within Florida. She has provided supervisory and geological support for soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling conducted as part of well construction oversight, for state funded projects. Ms. Tate takes a hands-on approach in engaging client and regulatory interactions onsite, facilitating a problem-solving team effort with a passion for promoting health and safety in the working environment.
Representative Project Experience Cape Coral Well Expansion Project, Cape Coral, Florida., Project Hydrogeologist- City of Cape Coral Observations of installation of six test wells and three observation wells in the Upper Floridan Aquifer (UFA). Test wells were drilled to 1,200 feet below land surface. Ms. Tate oversaw the drilling operations which included collection and description of soil samples, collection of water samples during well development, managing sub-contractors day-to-day activities, and supervising geophysical logging. Ms. Tate was responsible daily for maintaining health and safety protocol on site. (2021-2022).
Lee County Water Treatment Plant, North Forth Myers, Florida., Project Hydrogeologist- Lee County: Ms. Tate observed the installation of eight production wells and three observation wells in the Lower Hawthorn Aquifer (LHA). The production wells were 16” in diameter and advanced to 800 feet below land surface while the observation wells were 8” in diameter advanced to the same depth. She oversaw the drilling operations which included collection and description of soil samples, collection of water samples during well development, managing sub-contractors day-to-day activities, and supervising geophysical logging. Ms. Tate was responsible daily for maintaining health and safety protocol on site. (2021-2022).
Habitat for Humanity 2606-2610 East 10th Ave, Tampa, Florida., Staff Geologist-Habitat for Humanity: Staff Geologist for NovelE, providing supporting project management and field oversight for site activities. Assessment and activities included site walks, supervision of groundwater and soil sampling, analysis of historical data, and compiling of final deliverable. (2023-Present).
Eglin Air Force Station F22 Plane Crash, Eglin Air Force Station, Florida., Staff Geologist-United States Army Corp of Engineers- Mobile District: NovelE was hired as a subcontractor to Petroleum Resources & Development (PR&D) for environmental services related to this crash project. Ms. Tate provided supervision of installation of shallow monitoring wells and soil borings to analyze contamination leached into the environment. The scope of work includes providing geological assessment and remediation services. (2020-Present).
Naples Reclamation Facility, Naples, Florida., Staff Geologist- Environmental Risk Management (ERMI): NovelE was hired as a subcontractor to ERM to support well abandonment in advance of construction in an area with Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL). As Staff Geologist for NovelE, Ms. Tate provided field support during well abandonment activities performed by NovelEsolutions as a licensed Water Well Contractor. (2023-2023).
C-23/24 South Reservoir Environmental Assessment, Port St. Lucie, Florida., Staff Geologist-SFWMD: NovelE was hired as a subcontractor to PSI-Intertek for environmental services related to assessment for suitability of subject properties for the reservoir project. Ms. Tate provided support in both the point and non-point source assessment within field soil classifications, supervising the installation of shallow monitoring wells and soil borings to collect samples for analyzing possible contamination. (2023-2023).
Management and Technical Experience - Geotechnical Kelsey has a strong background in geotechnical engineering. Her experience includes assisting on slope stability analyses, settlement calculations, and the design of foundations that can support the loads imposed by structures, working on a wide range of projects, from small-scale residential developments to large-scale multi-family ventures, and on-site supervision to ensure the implementation of geotechnical solutions, like vibration monitoring, and pressure meter testing ensuring that they are executed as planned and verifying the stability and safety of structures throughout the construction phase. Let us know what we can do to support you!
Over the course of her career, she has amassed a wealth of geotechnical experience that has allowed her to contribute significantly to various engineering and construction projects.
One of the key aspects of her geotechnical experience has been conducting site investigations. This involves various methods, such as soil sampling, rock coring, and geophysical surveys, to assess the composition, properties, and structural integrity of the subsurface materials. These investigations are crucial in providing critical data that informs the design and construction of foundations, retaining walls, and other infrastructure elements. Her ability to analyze and interpret this data has allowed for the development of comprehensive geotechnical reports that guide decision-making on projects. She has also been involved in geotechnical laboratory testing, where she has supervised experiments to determine the physical and mechanical properties of soil and rock samples. This testing helps in understanding how these materials will behave under various loads and environmental conditions, which is vital for designing structures that are safe and durable.
She has work on a range of projects, from small-scale residential developments to large-scale multi-family ventures. This variety of experiences has exposed her to different geological and geotechnical challenges, and she has learned to adapt and provide innovative value engineering solutions to meet project-specific requirements.
Additionally, she has been actively involved in geotechnical analysis and design, using advanced software and analytical techniques to model and predict the behavior of soil and rock masses under different conditions. This has included assisting on slope stability analyses, settlement calculations, and the design of foundations that can support the loads imposed by structures.
Her experience has extended into the realm of geotechnical construction monitoring. She has been on-site to oversee the implementation of geotechnical solutions, like vibration monitoring, and pressure meter testing ensuring that they are executed as planned and verifying the stability and safety of structures throughout the construction phase.
In summary, her past geotechnical experience encompasses a wide array of activities, from site investigations and laboratory testing to analysis, and construction monitoring. This experience has not only strengthened her technical skills but has also honed her ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical clients, and provide innovative solutions to geotechnical challenges.
